…Something you should NOT be doing at midnight
When my kids were young, I found time to go to the gym. Often it was really early in the morning, but I still had some time to go. As the girls have gotten older, finding time for the gym has been really hard. As most Dads know, most of my time outside of work revolves around driving across your local metropolitan area to various events/practices/etc. To solve this problem initially, I bought a home gym. What a great idea right? If I can’t go to the gym, I’ll bring the gym to me! It’s a nice concept but execution is the problem. Now it’s nicely holding up a lot of junk in my store room. Hmmm, side note, maybe there is a market for gym equipment serving as furniture. Anyway, I’ve recently started my Insanity workout schedule. Yes, that crazy workout that people half my age struggle with. This wasn’t necessarily a New Year’s resolution but the start did happen a week after the new year. My strategy was to wake up at the buttcrack of dawn (~4:30), get my workout in, and then be ready for the day. That worked for the first week. The following week having contractors at the house resulted in an out-of-whack schedule. Needless to say, getting up at 4:30 am has been about as realistic as climbing Everest for me. I thought I’d have plenty of time last night after shuttling kids around immediately after school. But, waiting for me were two kids with homework! So, I get to jump between complex Algebra for one daughter and U.S. History for the other. Always fun to try to understand Synthetic Division and quickly try to interpret why John Adams represented the British soldiers involved in the Boston Tea Party. Where does all this end up? It ends up with my old tired body trying to keep up with Shaun T starting at 11pm! So, what is something you should NOT be doing at midnight? Answer: The Insanity workout! Are you kidding me. It was not my best performance, but I did plow through it….some level of accomplishment there.
p.s. Synthetic division is pretty cool once you crack the key!
