Have you ever wanted to write a book but felt as if you didn’t have enough time to do it?
I’ve done the same thing. For over a year I’ve started and never finished books. I have a few that are close to being completed, but just haven’t made it across the line. That all changed this past weekend.
In this week’s podcast I share my experience from this past weekend where I successfully wrote, designed, and published a book on Amazon…from scratch.
You may say you don’t have the time. Your kids will occupy all of your time. You don’t know the first thing you would do to actually start the book.
Imagine waking up Monday morning knowing that you actually completed your book you’ve been wanting to finish for so long. In this episode, you’ll hear exactly how I went about writing my book, from idea creation, through market research, target audience definition, outlining, and final writing.
The book ended up being 45 pages in Kindle version so it wasn’t a short book by any means. I wanted to provide value yet not overwhelm the reader. I went into it with a target page count of 30 pages. I was pretty happy with the 45 when all was said and done.
If you wanted to check out the book, you can find it on Amazon HERE.
In Part 2 next week, I’ll get into the actual publishing process and some of the initial marketing.
I’m not expecting to sell a lot of these books. This was merely an exercise to 1) see if I could do it in a weekend 2) understand the publishing process and all the steps that it takes.
Also, this week’s 5TIL (5 Things I Learned) covers:
- A super easy way to add a checklist to Evernote (I feel so dumb)
- How Florida State misplayed the #askjameis campaign (They feel so dumb)
- The good (ice bucket) and the bad (fire challenge) of internet memes
- New Media Expo’s big announcement regarding this year’s conference
- A 13 year old’s brilliant idea to battle cyberbullying…and it works.
As always, thank you so much for your support. If you want to subscribe to the show, click HERE and subscribe through iTunes.

Jeff, that is so cool and really impressive. I can’t wait to hear how you published it and marketing.
Keep inspiring and be blessed.
PS. hmmm, what can I write about. 😉
Joel Louis says
By the way I just grabbed a copy of your book. As this is only my 2nd year into Fantasy Football there is a lot for me to learn. So I’m looking forward to diving into this.
PS. as of last night I’m in 2nd place for this week. I’m hoping V. Cruz can take me over the top tonight.
Jeff Stephens says
Thanks so much for the support Joel! Good luck with Cruz this year, Manning looks TERRIBLE.
Jeff Stephens says
Dude, do it! Find something you want to write about and put it out there. Keep me posted on what you end up writing about.
