You’ve just written perhaps the best thing ever written on the internet. You hit the “publish” button and you sit back and await your fame and fortune.
But, nothing happens.
Why?
Hitting the Publish button, in many ways, is just the first step in creating content. In this episode, I dig into what happens after you hit Publish. This is where the real work starts.
You’ll hear 2 key objectives when sharing your content…
- Don’t be annoying
- Get it in front of people
You’ll also hear about various distribution strategies including email lists and social media channels. The strategies I share come from years of blogging and my personal methods for growing readership.
In addition, I share techniques for planning out the time between posts and how you can take advantage of automated tools.
And I touch on THE most important aspect…the follow-up. Make sure you engage with your readers. Join the conversation and enjoy the value you receive as much as the value you provide.
This week’s 5TIL (5 Things I Learned) covers:
- Product placement tool PlaceIt.net
- Barbie joining LinkedIn
- The issues with Apple’s Podcast app
- Keurig brewing full pots of coffee
- Keurig’s method of enforcing Digital Rights Management (DRM) for their K-Cup pods

Great episode Jeff. I need to work more on sharing my older content. Love the tip about questions in the comments too – I need to do more of that! Always looking forward to your posts!!

Jeff,
Great episode. I’ve been relying far too much on organic spreading of my content. Now you’ve given me a playbook to follow. I’m going to do my best to follow your advice for new content.
I spent the better part of the three-day weekend planning on how to share my existing content again, for new readers or anybody who missed it the first time.
Thanks for your hard work and great podcast!
