In this week’s episode, I respond to a recent audience survey related to struggles faced by parents today. One overarching theme found in the results was the fact that many parents who are trying to build a side business or do something online are constantly battling with focus.
I share 10 ways I reestablish focus in my life and hopefully provide you a few techniques to set yourself on a path for completing more tasks and living a less stressful life.
The 10 ways to find your focus include:
- Keep your attention on the next day or two
- Organize your projects and work on one at a time
- Don’t bite off more than you can chew
- Keep a schedule that you can maintain
- Pick some of the smaller tasks to gain confidence
- Set short term, medium term, and long term goals
- Use a system to keep track of what’s going on in your life
- Limit the times you check and process email
- Put yourself in an environment that is conducive to completing the task at hand
- Exercise
In addition, this week’s 5 Things I Learned (5TIL) include:
- The concept of virtual mailboxes and addresses and what it means for your business
- Apple’s rumored purchase of Beats
- Drones similarity to birds…in a bad way
- Panera’s recent decision to implement kiosks instead of cashiers
- Twitter’s rollout of its mute feature
